First day woes
Sorry I'm off on a tangent today.
I think my daughter had the worst day ever for the first day of school. She sits in the front of the bus and they were almost done with the route, when a motorcycle didn't see them turning and crashed into the front/side of the bus. The police, fire dept. and ambulance all came. They had to take the driver of the motorcycle by flight care and is in serious condition. The kids were scared and didn't know what to do. 15 minutes later they had another bus come and take the kids to school. So on the first day of Kindergarten my little girl was crying, scared and late.
The thing that make me most upset is that we were never contacted by the school. I heard about it because my SIL was going to take Kay's and my nephews picture together, but Kay was not at school yet. She finally saw her come in and went to talk to her and she said she was late because of an accident. That's all that was said. We didn't know if there was an accident so the bus couldn't get through or if the bus was in an accident.
I had to take my mom to a doctor appt. in Troy, so I was out of town all day. My SIL heard more of the story and called me on my cell phone. Then I was more worried if Kay was on that bus. Of course I don't know what route the bus takes, so I didn't even know if she was on that bus. So later in the day I called daycare to ask how she was doing and they said she was fine. But last night she had a nightmare and didn't really want to ride the bus this morning, because there might be another accident. I kept telling her that everything would be fine.
So were outside waiting for the bus this morning and it shows up 20 minutes later with a sub driver. Ok, so if the bus driver was so shook up that she couldn't drive today, why wouldn't the school contact the parents and let them know what happened. I would have been happy with a letter or a phone call at least telling me what happened so I could discuss it with my child. I think I'm going to call the school today and let them know that I'm not pleased.
Hopefully that will be the only exciting thing that happens this school year and I pray for the man on the motorcycle and his family.

oh man, thats awful..poor little girl..
and man, the poor motorcyle driver..at least in MI they HAVE to wear helmets, here the dumbshits can go willy nilly without them, drives me nuts..
well i hope her second day turns out better..who is her teacher anyway?
I found out more today-the man is going to be Ok in about 6 months, when all of his bones, liver, and spleen heal.
Her second day was much better and she as Mrs. Hicks for a teacher.
Wow, I would be one pissed off mom too. They should have called the parents of each student on that bus and let them know the kids were okay! I can't believe it wasn't even mentioned to any of you by the head of transportation!!
She will love Fran as a teacher!! I subbed her class a lot for the two years I was there...she is wonderful with her students! I think she and Ms. Davis are the best for that grade.
Hope her week got better!
Wow!
This momma lion would have been all over that....The school should have called parents, especially if there were first time Kindergarteners on there.....that's just wrong that they didn't call. Does she go to Maple Valley?
Did the three of you all go to Maple Valley? (Christina, Kelly, Alisha?)
well glad the next day was better!!
looking forward to getting together when I'm in town
Hey, I just got your message about the 23rd. I would love to except I won't be in Sandtown until the 26th and the 27th is my gram's b-day, but anytime after those two dates would work. I think I will be staying until either the 30th or the 1st.....just let me know :)
